Graduated and Doctor in History from the University of Navarra. Being an internal student of the Department of Art History, she decided to do her doctoral thesis, a monograph on the Cathedral of Pamplona in the 18th century, from a multidisciplinary perspective, which ended with the qualification of Outstanding Cum Laude, as well as an Extraordinary Doctorate Award. As a member of the Department of Art History and the Chair of Art and Heritage she collaborated in numerous outreach activities.

She has two 12-month postdoctoral stays abroad. The first was at the Center for Basques Studies at the University of Nevada (USA), a reference center for its important Basque-themed library. The second stay, of eight months, was in the United Kingdom, motivated by an interest in specialization in the 18th century, in acquiring a more global vision and learning about new research methodologies. The host center was the Department of History at University College London.

Among her publications you can find articles and chapters of indexed books that fall within the fields of Social History and History of Art in the Modern Age. He has participated in three research projects, the first funded by the Foundation for the Conservation of the Historical Heritage of Navarra and the second by the University of Navarra, for the study of the social and political elites of the Kingdom of Navarra during the Crisis of the Old Regime . The project she is currently involved in, Uncertain Generations. The families of influential Spaniards in times of transformation (1740-1830), is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Government of Spain.

In 2014 she became part of the Chair of Basque Language and Culture at the University of Navarra, and is currently its deputy director. In this Chair she develops activities of an informative nature and transfer of knowledge that are carried out with a subsidy from the Government of Navarra. As part of the responsibilities within this Chair, she acts as secretary of the ethnographic research group Etniker-Navarra, which collaborates in the preparation of the Ethnographic Atlas of Vasconia. Since 2015, she has been a member of the Navarrese Euskera Council, a consultative body of the Government of Navarra for permanent social participation in public policies to promote this language.

It is a joy to be able to collaborate with a project like Buztinaga’s to bring the history of the house and its inhabitants and that of the valley closer to anyone who wants to get closer. Precisely to this she has dedicated some of her publications and her family continues to be an object of study, one of those who participated in the phenomenon known as the Navarra Hour of the 18th century.

Doctor from the University of the Basque Country. She studied at the Conservatories of Bilbao, Barcelona and Gent (Belgium), where she completed a postgraduate degree in the specialties of Musical Pedagogy, Piano and Chamber Music. Her interest in disseminating music leads her to teach musical listening courses to different socio-cultural groups, being responsible – director of the Music Classroom on the Leioa Campus, teacher in the Opera Oberta cycle in coordination with the Liceo de Barcelona, director of the musical courses of the Women’s Area of the Bilbao City Council or coordinator of educational concerts. Among other musical collaborations, she has worked as a musical director, a film coach and as a music broadcaster on the radio.

In the field of her research, her concerns lead her to study pedagogical strategies and diversity, the socio-educational impact of orchestras, the profile of the professional musician or the role of women in musical history. In 2019 she published the album “Argia eta Emakumea” rescuing the music of three Basque composers from the 19th-21st centuries. She also gives conferences and talks and is the author of the chapter “Women and Basque Music” in The History of Basque Music edited by the Center for Basque Studies. University of Nevada in Reno.

As a performer she has been part of various chamber groups, performing more intense work as an accompanying pianist. In 2002 she joined Musikene as a complementary piano teacher by competitive examination, where she teaches undergraduate and master’s courses, and is also the coordinator of the external project for the master’s degree students in interpretation, work that she combines with the coordination and direction of Amadeus Bilbao Musika. of which she is the founder. In the field of pedagogy she has published two accordion methods and has developed different pedagogical material for learning music, sharing her experiences in various conferences and articles.

That is why I am extremely excited to be able to participate in the project that Buztinaga has created to energize the musical life of the wonderful and magical enclave of Baztán in Navarre, where Aita Donostia carried out her most outstanding musicological studies. In a privileged natural environment, being able to share musical moments by organizing concerts, talks, workshops and colloquiums where we coexist with different musical expressions and languages, rescuing our composers and offering emerging musicians the possibility of showing their talent will be a real luxury. Jimena Tierra is a jurist (UAM), with a master’s degree in criminal profiling and calligraphy expertise (UDIMA). Likewise, she has extensive knowledge in Social Sciences and Humanities.

He has been writing for more than thirty years, winning awards in poetry and short stories. In the novelistic field, he stands out with the titles Equinoccio (ed. Playa de Ákaba, 2016) and Cambio de Rasante (ed. Grupo Tierra Trivium, 2017), adapted to the braille system, audiobook and translated into English. In the true crime line, she has recently published La muerte en un naipe (ed. Alrevés, 2021), with special participation as an expert and recording of the voice-over in the RTVE documentary “El assassin de la baraja”.

In 2016, Jimena Tierra founded the ©Grupo Tierra Trivium label dedicated to cultural activism, with the launch of more than two hundred publications to her credit and the coordination of countless cultural events, highlighting: curating the Madrid Galapanoir mountain festival; the direction of the national and international department of the Alicante Noir crime fiction festival; the direction of the BOCEMA Lee literary festival; the presentation of the book Distopia, by Josu Gómez Barrutia, with the intervention of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Jon Sistiaga; the presentation of the book La Amenaza, by Abrasha Rotenberg, with interventions by Ariel Roth, Pastora Vega and Manuel Hidalgo; and the direction of the Feminist Literary Meetings in Moralzarzal with the presentation of the book The girl you didn’t know how to love, by Marta Robles.

In 2022 he created the ©Scriterapia school of emotions, an ontological coaching label dedicated to personal growth and the management of emotions through writing in a broad sense, working on graphology as a tool for self-knowledge, emotional narrative as an instrument for conflict resolution and the technique for the development of creativity.

Carlos Asensio was born in Castelló in 1986. He works as a visual artist and teacher.

He has a degree in Fine Arts and has a Master’s Degree in Artistic Production from the Polytechnic University of Valencia where he is pursuing the Doctorate program in Art and Production. He has also completed a Studio Program at the Berlin Art Institute where he received master classes from Bernhard Martin and Larissa Fassier, among others.

To his credit, several individual exhibitions stand out, among which those held at the Tomás y Valiente Art Center in Fuenlabrada, the Municipal Museum of Albacete and the Center 14 in Alicante are worth mentioning. As for group exhibitions, he has exhibited both nationally and in Europe. During 2022 in two editions of the GlogauAIR Open Studios or the BAAM#3 at Monopol Berlin. The traveling exhibition titled Atlas of Spanish Art held in 2021 at the Mauro Muriendas Room in Torrelavega and the O Vello Cárcere Cultural Center in Lugo. The various exhibitions held that same year with the Infinity Art project at fairs such as the Affordable Art Fair in Amsterdam, Art Madrid or Estampa in the Spanish capital. The 2019_n3 group exhibition at Piramidón Center d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona, the Art Spring 2019 event held in Berlin, several editions of Marte International Contemporary Art Fair of Castelló, the III Ciutat Vella Oberta Arts Biennial in Valencia, the II Call from La New Fair in Madrid or the traveling project Figurama 10.

In addition, some of his pieces are present in important private collections such as the European Museum of Modern Art and Piramidón Center d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona, the Museo Arte Contemporanea Sicilia in Catania and public institutions such as the Museu de la Ciutat de Castelló. At a private level, his work is present in collections in Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Belgium and the United States.

ACTIVITIES

My proposal for Buztinaga focuses on the delivery of courses/workshops of various kinds, as well as talks with various contents on artistic matters.

The courses would be, fundamentally, practical with some theoretical sessions, as a presentation, of the topic to be developed. The typology can be very diverse and range from monographic workshops of artistic technique (oil, acrylic, charcoal, collage, mixed technique…) applied to major artistic genres (portrait, landscape, still life…) to others of a more experimental nature. In the latter you can delve into other aspects such as the process of creating a work and the development of creativity.

Theoretical talks can focus on the explanation of the personal creative process, presentation of artistic periods that have taken place throughout the history of art or carrying out a technical/conceptual analysis of the work of recognized artists.

Technical Forestry Engineer and Higher Forestry Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Graduate in Environmental Sciences from the National University of Distance Education (UNED). Among the advanced courses carried out, the University Specialist in Environmental Education by the UNESCO Chair of Environmental Education at the UNED can be mentioned.

She has developed her professional career, both in the public and private spheres, in the fields of forestry engineering, education and gardening for more than thirty years.

“As coordinator of the courses and workshops of the “Buztinaga project” related to the protection of nature, environmental education and knowledge of the environment of the Baztán Valley; “I will be happy to carry out activities of different themes, durations and typologies, always adapted to the characteristics of the possible participants, including children and the local population.”

So, my project for The Buztinaga Association is:

Guided tours around Buztinaga, to learn about the flora, fauna and landscapes, with the option of collecting samples for analysis, preparing herbariums, mycological use, etc. This activity can be complemented with equestrian and bicycle routes, rock climbing, nature survival courses, and others.

Screening of films and documentaries, with subsequent discussion

Conferences and seminars, given by prestigious professionals in the sector.

Talks and meetings with the local rural population to transmit knowledge about traditional activities related to the use of natural resources and the customs of the land.

Thematic workshops on flora, fauna observation, mycology, waste recycling, domestic gardens, forest management.

Photography, painting or other arts contests on the respectful use of natural resources or the landscapes of the Baztán Valley.

Creation of the Award for the most respectful local/regional initiative or practice with the natural resources of the area.

José Luis Rodríguez (El Puma and El Maligno, depending on the day) is a traditional Railwayman, Doctor in CC. Physics by hobby and inveterate film buff by devotion. Throughout his life he has accumulated many thousands of hours in dark movie theaters. From his earliest childhood, in one of those village cinemas of the 70’s, where on Sundays at 4 in the afternoon, they showed everything, from films with a black Tarzan to the horrendous Spanish comedies parodied, for example, Johan Cruyff (played by Joe Rigoli) and the myriad disaster films of those years; in which there were earthquakes, giant waves, bees, spiders, bats, caterpillars, giant monkeys, fires in skyscrapers and endless problems in almost all US Airports.

Growing with the change of times, it has experienced the evolution of the World in parallel to that of Cinema, going on to enjoy the Multiplexes, the arrival of the Blockbusters of the 80’s and the appearance of the new Spanish Cinema with the arrival of Modernity with the Movida, expanding his interest in the cinema of other cultures and other times, looking unabashedly towards the wonderful world of Black and White and Silent Cinema.

If I could now have a time machine, I would return to a point where I could choose to be a film critic and not because I like to criticize, which is also true, but to be able to go to the cinema for free and during working hours. He remembers with affection (and a certain nostalgia) the figures of those who could do it, such as the unforgettable Alfonso Sánchez (if anyone does not know him and wants to, look for the short film that José Luis Garci dedicated to him a little before winning his Oscar ) with his suffocating voice, his everlasting cigarette in his mouth and his appearance as a grandfather of the Great Family; Antonio Gasset with his slanderous and brilliant comments (almost always about the audience that followed the legendary FILM DAYS) or the vitriolic criticisms of Carlos Boyero – to whom Joaquín Sabina dedicated a brilliant Sonnet – capable of condensing the opinion of a GREAT film by more than 3 hours, in one or at most two words. He is of the opinion that there are only two types of cinema; The first is what is done so that while watching it we do not think about our lives; The second being that it forces us to spend part of our lives thinking about what we have seen.

Another relevant aspect in which a geek/geek also manifests itself is in relation to Film Music. That came a little later, it was a night in 1982 in which Deckard disobeyed the order to remove an enigmatic replicant named Rachel and that Vangelis immortalized in a priceless and unforgettable Soundtrack.

She has taken courses and workshops taught by Antonio López, Andrés Gª Ibáñez, Golucho, Jaime Valero, Kike Meana, Carlos Saura, among others.

A specialist in gilding, drawing and hyperrealistic painting, she dedicates her time to research and study of techniques, tools, elements and ways to enrich her constantly evolving creative language.

As a teacher, she teaches courses and workshops on drawing, painting and gilding techniques, in person and online.

She has worked in diverse artistic disciplines such as illustration, leaded glass, scenography, theater and ceramics, and has acquired knowledge of image and video editing as useful tools for the pictorial process and presentation of it on social networks.

In Buztinaga I will be able to develop artisan weaving workshops like my pre-Columbian ancestors did.

Experimental loom weaving workshop:
The use of the loom as a support and the use of different textures and materials which are intertwined with the warp intuitively, whether through colors, textures or different shapes and sizes.

Transfer Workshops and Acrylic Painting Workshop:
An old technique, but now renewed with great innovation and impressive results
It involves the transmission of image, colors and shapes to the technical support, such as canvas, wood or methacrylate.
In this workshop we work on creative expression in its most primitive form where externalization and character added to the use of all combined elements allows us to develop better intuition and greater creativity in our artistic manifestations and works.

I’ll tell you a little about myself.

To know who I am, I have to look back and see the beginning, look for my password again; When I looked for it I didn’t find it. This didn’t stop me, I reached for pencil and paper. What was there at the beginning? What constant had been repeated?

From the beginning and further back, since I was a child to be exact, I was lucky enough to be able to see the textile and goldsmith work of pre-Columbian cultures since my father, at that time, collected them. Somehow those surreal representations with expressive simplicity were retained in my memory. They appeared in all my projects spontaneously.

When searching and investigating the reason for this attraction, I found artistic coincidences with modern art, with works by artists who have been my references: Paul Klee, Agnes Martin and Marck Rothko. This is where another question arises: with what criteria could I compare these coincidences? The first, the visual and iconographic form; the second, the philosophical and humanistic aspect in accordance with the social, political, economic and religious environment of the times.

I always thought that in some way I appropriated this ancient language to translate it into a modern one, I was wrong, there was no need to translate, it is the same language in a timeless space.

Formally, I define myself as a painter (geometric abstraction) being a multidisciplinary artist. This allows me to have different tools to express myself. The techniques I use in addition to painting are assemblage, encaustic, textiles and performance; I learned some of these techniques during my creative process.

I was born in April 1977, in the city of Rosario, Argentina.

I became interested in art in general at a very early age by playing and experimenting with paint and other materials intuitively.
At the age of 10 I enrolled in a private academy receiving basic training in Drawing and Painting for three years.
In 1994 I entered the Higher Institute of Design Technology, graduating four years later.
In the year 2000 I decided to travel to Europe with the idea of experiencing cultural contact and diversity.
Some cities in Germany, Spain, Italy, England, Switzerland, Portugal and Greece were the sites visited and the “great teachers” who accompanied a self-taught era that yielded a great wealth of knowledge and artistic evolution by leaps and bounds.

Having spent a long stay in Barcelona, a cosmopolitan and multicultural city, I began the process that starts from the realistic figurative towards the synthetic emotional expression represented with shape and color.

Today, and for three years, settled on the Island of Mallorca, I found the direct connection of the individual with the natural environment, opening myself even more to emotions, to mature my own and original style:

“Intuitive lines that result in a harmonious and dynamic composition where the color in its natural tone of saturation reinforces the message of emotion, combining with translucent brushstrokes that rest on the music of the figures.”

This pictorial experience is on a personal level, but in the last three years I have opened them to the public.
I have designed specific workshop formats to channel emotions through shape and color, stimulating the five senses, for which I work in combination with different disciplines such as music, theater, cooking, recital, etc.

It would be an honor for me to be able to present this proposal in a Workshop or conference format and thematic meetings at the Buztinaga Association so that the message of “Emotional Awakening” can also be developed in this project of culture, art and well-being.
